Each week Mairead chats to someone all about the obsession in their life, and this week was the turn of Niamh Phelan who is mad about bees.
Niamh did her Masters in Wildlife Conservation and Management, and her thesis focused on Ireland's rarest true bumblebee which saw her spending a summer in Mayo with a net trying to track it down!
Niamh told Mairead about how important bees are our to our food, our environment, and how the work they do is worth €53 million per annum to the Irish economy.
She works with the National Biodiversity Data Centre who are always looking for the public to get involved in their surveys to track bees and other pollinators - you can find more information here.
