Pictures of Maria Condon's leg have gone viral after she was bitten by a false widow spider at her home in Ferrybank, Co Waterford.

The mum-of-three spotted the arachnid in her house a couple of days before the attack happened and checked it out online to see what it could be. It's size and the "skull marking" revealed it to be a noble false black widow.
