This statistic may or may not come as a shock to you but according to research 80% of New Year's resolutions fail.
But why is this? Why does one invest so much time and effort into altering oneself for the better yet watch it crumble in the early part of the year?
Speaking on Dermot and Dave, clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist Fiona Brennan reveals how, "the mindset has to move from giving up something to gaining something". A phrase that struck a chord with us from the off.
Fiona continues to explain how people tend to concentrate on deprivation as appose to development. In her experience, "it all boils down to the relationship you have with yourself" and that true change will come when a person "focuses on desires rather than goals".
All too often we depend on willpower to be our saving grace, but our expert had some even more startling info for us, "willpower is designed to get you through about three days", meaning you have to make the choice on a subconscious level.
The therapist then teaches us a very quick and easy method called "Mental Positive Visualisations and Rehearsals", that changes us on a neurochemical level, helping one develop a more emotionally charged connection with their desire.
Practicing this technique on a daily/regular basis will leave you, "looking out through the eyes of that success, of that desire, being 100% yours".
