Every Monday, we dedicate a section of the show called Mind Yourself Now to help our listeners with any well-being issues they may have.
On this morning's Dermot and Dave, it was all about the body (and mind) as our regular contributor discussed the dos and don'ts of gym life.
His key message was pretty straightforward, "Don't be afraid to be a beginner".
The coach offered pointers such as:
- Introduce yourself to staff
- Ask for help
- Focus on posture/technique
- Invest in a personal trainer
- Use of equipment
Ronan also enlightened us as to why a towel is so important and why gym goers should forget the "Go big or go home" ethos, "emphasise your technique over your resistance". Sometimes less is actually more.
