Time to get active!
"There's a grand stretch in the evenings", says everyone in Ireland, and with the brighter days and better weather upon us, lots of people will get back into running.
It's a very popular activity but can be daunting if you've been out of the loop for a while, or maybe it's something you've wanted to do for years but have always been putting it off?
Whatever the case, body and fitness expert Ronan Murphy, of TonedFit.com, has some excellent advice that will have you bombing those footpaths in no time.
As part of Dermot and Dave's #MindYourselfNow, Today FM's Head of Marketing, Róisín Reilly tells us her story about how when it comes to running, "I just kinda fell out of it", and it's a tale most of us can relate to.
Now that she has signed up for the Vhi Mini Marathon in Dublin on June 2nd, Ró needs a new approach to help her tackle her mental block towards the discipline.
Here are some of his guidelines:
- Running shorter distances
- Fatiguing the body through exercises
- Introducing a resistance programme
- Training with people of varying abilities
- Running without music
It's all about "hitting it from a different angle", as stimulation is key, and committing to the distance you've chosen.
