In just one day, John Upton's life changed immeasurably. In December 2019, John came home from work with a headache and within a matter of hours was being rushed to Dublin for specialist treatment for a clot on his brain stem.
This was the start of a long road for John and his family. After a number of life saving procedures, and set backs along the way, John is now in specialist residential care away from his family.
He has limited mobility and requires a wheelchair.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, John's other half Caroline spoke bravely of the turmoil John is experiencing by being away from the ones he loves and how she feels he 'won't survive' if he can't come home.
Unfortunately, John's home wouldn't be fit to accommodate his new needs.
Caroline and her friend Seamus have set up a Go Fund Me to bring John home to be with his family, and to start the next part of their journey together.
You can find out more on the 'Bring John Home' page.
