Over the past number of years, there's been a dramatic decrease in the amount of time children spend being active. In particular, teenage girls 'fall off a cliff' when they get to secondary school.
The inactive teenagers are putting themselves at risk of conditions like osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes, and it's something that all of us have a part to play in preventing.
Niall Moyna, Professor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Dublin City University, joined Dermot and Dave to explain the impact of low-activity on our children and the small steps we can all take to reverse it.
Niall will be speaking at HealthFest, a free event tailored for teenagers that's taking place on Wednesday 27th of January. Speakers include Niall, Greg O'Shea and our own Dermot Whelan. For more, check their website.
