Last year, Dermot and Dave spoke to Mary O'Donnell from Cork who got in touch while she was at home filling out her application for a space scholarship. One of Mary's biggest inspirations is friend of the show Norah Patten, aka Space Norah, so we introduced the two of them on air.
Mary went off to Heuston to take part in the Space Scholarship program, and since then she was accepted to UL to study Aeronautical Engineering! Mary and Nora both joined the lads on the phone this morning to give an update on how things are going for the two of them these days.
Norah is still working towards her goal to be Ireland's first astronaut, and will hopefully make it in to space in the next 5-10 years. She's also written a kid's book called 'Shooting for the Stars' that documents her journey to try to become Ireland's first astronaut.
Mary is absolutely loving her course in UL and has great ambitions to go to space one day, and she's able to spend a lot of time with Norah who works at the University.
We can't wait to hear the next update from these two incredible women!
