Is happiness as we know it a myth?
With all the curveballs life throws at us, it's impossible to be 'happy' all of the time, but wouldn't it be great if there was a formula one could follow in order to maximise how content they are? Well according to Rapid Transformational Therapist Pauline Rohdich - there is.
Pauline is the first trainer of the ‘Say Yes to Happiness’ programme in Ireland that is based on the teachings of Marci Shimoff’s NY Times Bestseller ‘Happy for No Reason’.
Speaking on Dermot and Dave's #MindYourselfNow the expert says happiness is;
a specific, measurable, physiological state characterised by distinct brain activity, heart rhythms and body chemistry
Science has determined that there is a 'happiness set point' that can fluctuate, but it is there waiting to be worked on.
Our ability to be happy is made up of a number of components with the happiness set point determined by 50% genetics and the remaining 50% is learned behaviours, of which 10% is made up of our circumstances.
The good news is that thanks to extensive research and developments in epigenetics and neuroplasticity;
We are able to change genes, which means we can alter 90% of this
Rohdich explores other variables we need to focus on with gratitude playing a vital role.
Pauline is running two 'Say Yes To Happiness' seminars next month - one in Dublin on May 12th, the other in Cork on May 25th. For more info check out justpause.ie
