'Rocky-esque' is the only way to describe it
On September 27th, Tallaght native Richard Kiely is taking part in the biggest MMA fight of his career; a challenge he feels is "gonna shock the world".
Richie, who fights out of SBG, will be up against England's Michael "Venom" Page (or 'MVP' as he's known) at the Bellator Dublin Main Event in the 3Arena.
"But why is this such a big deal?", I sense you ask. Well MVP is one of the top names in global MMA right now, whereas Richie is only relatively new to the cage. His professional record stands as 3-1-0.
But Kiely has battled hard to get this fight, both on and off the canvas, and if this Stare Down is anything to go by, spectators are in for a juggernaut:
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, the Dubliner chats about his journey from former World Kickboxing Champion to a where he's at today, "I decided 3 years ago that I wanted to be an MMA fighter...I wanted to test myself".
Richie also explains why his 6-year-old son Derry is his main inspiration to be the best.
We hope you give him hell Richie!
