It's been a long six months for parents, teachers, principals and students. Schools closed for the last time back in March and while teachers and parents worked tirelessly to keep the learning going, this might be the first time everyone is excited to be getting into the classroom for the start of a new term.
But so much has changed in the world since March and things will be incredibly different for everyone going back to school today.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Valerie Elliffe who is the Principal of St Mary's NS Carrigaline gave some insight into how they've been preparing for the new term from moving furniture around to Zoom school tours for the Junior Infants.
And pandemic or no pandemic, there'll still be such excitement for the new starters...until they realise that school happens every day!
