We're very sorry, and if you're afraid of all things creepy and crawly, you might want to give this one a miss.
Brand new research from NUI Galway has discovered an increase in the amount of false widow spiders around the country, and has confirmed that they can deliver a bite that might require hospitalisation.
The study also found that almost all of the bites happened in the home, with an astounding 88% of them occurring when someone was either asleep or putting on clothes.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Dr Michel Dugon, Head of the Venom Systems Lab at NUI Galway (what a job title!), explained the research and how they need more people to get in touch with them if they encounter one of these eight legged creatures.
If you think you have been bitten, take a photograph and make contact with Dr Dugon and his team on falsewidow@nuigalway.ie
