"We're gonna take back the World Record!"
First up - who doesn't love a hug? A nice long cuddle is one of the best things ever! *closes eyes. Imagines hugging. Smiles* But what if you had to do it with three of your friends - for 30 hours??
Well on May 4th this year, in Castlebar's Market Square, that's exactly what four of county Mayo's finest fellas are hoping to do in order to raise much needed funds for two great charities - Pieta House & Western Care.
Robert Tuomey, Stephen Rattigan, Brian Cawley and Nick Kearney are the heroic huggers involved.
There's a lot of love involved
Speaking on Dermot and Dave, Rob Tuomey tells us why they're so eager to reach their €6,000 target and take back the World Record taken by four Japanese pals in Shinjuku last year.
Friends of Rob had originally set the record back in 2017 with their 'The Hug For Charity' campaign, and now these four lads want to bring it back to the Wesht.
Tuomey chats about their game plan and explains the rules and regulations involved in the attempt.
When asked about how awkward it might be, he laughs saying, "we're all from the same town so we know each other pretty well". Ye'd want to lads. And don't forget to load up on chewing gums.
