Two months ago, very few people knew who Maura Higgins was.
Now the Longford legend has over 2 million Instagram followers, after making it to the final of Love Island 2019.
Speaking to Today FM during her first Irish interview since leaving the Love Island villa Maura said, "It's crazy, it still doesn't even feel real. I'm shocked, I expected to be out of there in the first three days, I never expected to get to the final."
However Maura did have reservations about leaving the safety of the bubble of the Villa, "When I came out I was expecting a lot of hate because I'm so blunt and opinionated," but the night before the final the contestants were told a little bit about what the outside world thought of them.
"The night before the final we were told a bit of gossip , I was told about Amy Schumer posting a video about me and I nearly fell off the chair."
It's only herself!!!@MauraHiggins will be LIVE on air in the next 15 minutes for her first Irish interview since #LoveIsland (yes the REAL Maura 🙌)

When Maura left the villa and was eventually given back her phone she says she nearly had a heart attack, "I opened up the phone and nearly took a heart attack, it kept freezing, it's absolutely crazy."
It was then that she saw Amy Schumer had slid into her DMs.
Maura says returning to Longford was a crazy experience, "Walking into my hometown where I grew up with crowds of people waiting for autographs and my picture was crazy. I'm loving every moment of it."
And she's still happily coupled up with Curtis, "Me and Curtis are doing really well, it feels like we are together a long ling time but we're probably only together a few weeks, but you spend 24 hours a day with a person in the Villa. Me and him are very happy and we're just going to see what happens."
