It’s been formally lit up by Gary Barlow, and now, the Dermot and Dave Campervan of Christmas Cheer is on the road, spreading a little bit of joy to people around Ireland.
Our first stop was to Drumlish in Co Longford, and to twin sisters Grainne Dolan and Mairead Lennon.
Grainne nominated sister Mairead for some cheer, after Mairead was an ‘absolute superstar’ to Grainne’s family during a most horrendous time.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Grainne explained how Mairead ‘took over’ her home life when Grainne’s little girl, Cara, was in Crumlin Hospital.
Mairead did everything from making dinners and lunches to homeschooling her niece Grainne during Covid.
After Cara sadly passed away, Mairead had everything ready for the family as well as looking after all of the funeral arrangements.
Grainne says that Mairead ‘deserves some Christmas cheer more than anybody else I know as she is an angel on earth and I don’t know how we could have gotten through the past 18 months without her ’.
And the Campervan of Christmas Cheer was only too happy to bring a smile to their faces.
