The song that is, not the movie
Holding your breath for as long as you can underwater is something we've all tried at some point in our lives and I'd say that 60-120 seconds is a fair estimate as to how long the average person lasts.
Now imagine being able to do it for 360 seconds? Well that's how long freediver Claire Walsh is able to stay submerged and I'm gasping for air just thinking about it!
The Leixlip native will this September become Ireland's first ever competitive freediver when she competes at the AIDA World Freediving Championships in Villefranche sur Mer, France.
Dermot and Dave chat to Claire, who is also a breathwork practitioner and voice movement coach, about the various disciplines involved in sport and how and try to wrap their heads around how she is able to last 6 minutes on one single breath.
Walsh reveals why for her, meditation is such a huge part of it saying, "to get up to 4, 5, 6, (minutes) - it's a big mental thing".
You can find out more info about the championship and freediving in general by visiting aida-wc2019.com and follow Claire's journey on her website or Instagram page.
