Could people be taxed on their home's "spare" bedrooms in the future?
Just when you thought Ireland's housing crisis couldn't get any more absurd, the Government says "hold my beer".
Under the watchful eye of Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy, the Department of Housing teamed up with the ESRI (Economic and Social Research Institute) to carry out a survey on 1,200 over 55's, asking them if they would consider downsizing to make their "empty homes" available to others.
Murphy has rejected claims this was a tester for bedroom tax, where homeowners of a certain age would be taxed per each of the unused rooms in their house. But there's no smoke without fire.
Dermot and Dave discuss this preposterous suggestion and hear listener's opinions on the matter. There wasn't one vote in favour of it.
You couldn't make it up lads!
