With just a few days to go until Christmas, the GAA 2020 season came to an end. It was one for the history books, a season like no other and a new documentary series is looking at the impact that has had on those involved.
The Split Season has unrestricted access to 5 inter-county players, including All Ireland finalists Declan Hannon and Niamh Collins, during this year’s championships and finds out what it's like to be vying for an All-Ireland title, while working and training during a pandemic.
The series hears genuine reactions to wins and losses, and shares just some of what players and management had to experience during 2020. In this series Ronan McNamee reacts to Mickey Harte leaving his post as Tyrone manager, Declan Hannon shares his frustration about members of the Limerick panel being unable able to attend their games, and Niamh Collins opens up about preparing for an All Ireland final on Christmas week. Former Health Minister, Simon Harris TD, also speaks about the thought process behind some of the decisions being made during the summer months and the controversial decision to restart the series.
Producer of The Split Season, Seán Reidy, joined Dermot and Dave with a preview of what can be expected.
The Split Season is available from Tuesday 22nd December on the TodayFM app, GoLoud and all other podcast platforms.
