The idea of eloping has become more popular since Covid-19 hit.
Tens of thousands of weddings we cancelled across Ireland after the Government banned mass gatherings and closed hotels. For some couples this meant facing the heartbreak of having to push their big day indefinitely, while for others it was a sigh of relief for not having to worry about seating plans or who makes the guest list.
This morning on Dermot & Dave a listener contacted the show asking for advice on whether she should elope or not, after her wedding plans were ruined by the Coronavirus.
Her text lead to a huge influx of calls from people who had done something similar and regretted it. One listener told the lads how her family didn't speak to her for six months after eloping.
While another lady said her family were "angry" when she invited them to a birthday that doubled up as a wedding.
