Well he does have a winning swing
Clare hurling superstar Shane O'Donnell shot to fame with his unbelievable hat-trick against Cork in the 2013 All-Ireland Senior Final. That's six years ago lads!
Here he is in all his glory:
There's been a lot of ash smashed since that day and now the 24-year-old has been given the opportunity to swing away with some of the best golfers in the world at this year's Dubai Duty Free irish Open Pro Am in Lahinch, Co. Clare on July 3rd.
The Lahinch course, described as 'The St Andrews of Ireland, will host the tournament for the first time in its 91-year history and O'Donnell is privileged to be asked to play;
Yeah, I'm extremely lucky. I was delighted to get the email and get the offer
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Shane tells us how he plays "semi-regularly" and is fairly modest about his handicap score of 17. And there's one Irish footballer who he would love to share a few holes with.
The lads also have a chat about his recent stint over in Harvard University as part of a Fulbright Scholarship, where he dismisses the myth that all American colleges are like what you'd see in the movies.
Catch the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open from the 4th-7th of July and watch out for the likes of Shane Lowry, Paul McGinley, Pádraig Harrington, Lee Westwood, Tommy Fleetwood...and Shane O'Donnell, of course, in the Pro Am. A high calibre competition!
