It's a science really
Whether it's trying to find a space to pull into at your local shopping centre, a football match, the airport, work etc., parking drives most motorists mad.
Everyone has their own theories on the best way to find the ideal spot, but new research by scientists at Boston University and Sante Fe Institute has given us a definitive answer.
The boffins have broken down the art of parking into three categories:
- Meek - Takes the first available space. No messing
- Prudent - Bypasses the first space but will take take one of the next couple
- Optimistic - These glass-half-full drivers will take a chance on finding the closest space to their destination
The prudent will always be happy because they didn't crumble at the first opportunity, yet didn't waste time going too far into the maze.
Dermot and Dave's own brainiac Seán Reidy chats to the lads about these findings, inadvertently kicking off a parking debate between the hosts and listeners.
We did learn some handy tricks along the way though - hacks we will definitely use in the future.
Not too sure about "parking angels" or Lisa's rectangular finger-shaping technique.
