The Laois comedian reveals the inspiration behind his hilarious new book
Many authors spend a lifetime trying to get their work published, but for Bernard O'Shea it kinda fell into his lap, with the help of his wife Lorna ("behind every good man..." and all that).
Gill Books were keen to work with the funnyman but he had zero ideas when it came to putting pen to paper. That was until he mentioned a couple of unusual stories about his family life.
He owes his life to his long-suffering wife, Lorna, who has nicknamed him ‘The Feckin’ Eejit’ because of the ongoing crises he puts her and their three small children through almost every day.
Unbeknownst to Bernard, Lorna had been cataloguing each of her hubby's amazing mishaps, which became the perfect material for his first publication, My Wife Is Married to a Feckin' Eejit.
I went home and she says "here's the list of the stupid, idiotic things you've done and she had like 27 or 28 "

The 40-year-old chats to Dermot and Dave about some of these anecdotes and ‘The Great Dishwasher Row of 2009’ is definitely our favourite.
He also explains why buying your loved one a vacuum cleaner is never a good idea and why he was destined to remain ginger for life.
My Wife Is Married to a Feckin' Eejit is out right now and you can catch Bernard at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway this Friday and Saturday (25th & 26th of October). Dates and tickets can be found here.
