Should the school day, or the school year, be longer than it is?
In this week's Monday debate, we look at whether a new school system — incorporating education, physical activity and creativity — would be more beneficial for children.
We also ask how this would impact the lives of both parent and child in terms of school runs, childcare costs, careers and socialising.
Karl Deeter of Irish Mortgage Brokers, Jen Hogan, author of The Real Mum's Guide to (Surviving) Parenthood, Kevin Williams, language expert and senior researcher at DCU, Moira Leydon, Education and Research Officer at the ASTI and Dr Sheila Garrity, lecturer in Early Childhood Studies at the UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre in NUIG, joined us to discuss the idea.
