An eight-year-old girl has died after an assault in county Wexford.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at a home in New Ross shortly before midnight on Sunday, at around 11.45pm.
The young girl was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment and passed away from her injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.
A woman and a man, aged in their 30s, are receiving treatment in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí say they're investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
The local coroner has been notified and the Garda Technical Bureau and Office of the State Pathologist have been requested to assist in the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information to contact them.
