Met Eireann is warning of gale force winds and spot flooding, as the entire country is under a yellow rain and wind warning.
The yellow alert is in effect until 9 o'clock tonight, and has been in place since 4am.
The forecaster is warning of very windy weather and widespread gales with some severe and damaging gusts.
Heavy rain is also expected which will result in flooding in places. Thundery showers and hail are also forecast for later on.

There are warnings of damaging winds along southern and western coasts this morning, and the potential for localised wave overtopping along Atlantic coasts.
Conditions are expected to improve this afternoon, as rain clears in eastern counties in the early afternoon with sunny spells.
