It's being suggested that a return to working from home will help reduce the spread of the new 'Kraken' variant of Covid-19.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) issued its advice after a risk assessment of the new XBB.1.5 variant which has spread rapidly across the US.
The new covid strain has already been detected in Ireland.
The ECDC also recommended mask-wearing and urged public health authorities in individual countries 'to improve the timely' take-up of vaccines and boosters.
However, it says there is no indication that 'Kraken' causes any more severe illness than other Omicron variants.
#XBB15 is a sub-lineage of #XBB, which evolved from two earlier lineages of #Omicron, with an additional mutation.
First detected in the US in October, has been growing in proportion in many countries around the world.
