A 'wolfdog' which had escaped from a farm in Cork has died.
Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals believe the last few days have been tough on the animal.
Axel was a hybrid wolf and had been living on Rumley's Open Farm in Waterfall until he got loose.
It's believed after finding Axel a net was used to capture him, but he wasn't use to the situation and may have panicked.
Vincent Cashman from CSPCA says Axel wasn't use to being in this situation:
"He very little human interaction.
"I would think he has never been on a lead.
"He has never done any of that kind of training that you would do with a normal dog breed, any form of what, what happened is, is completely new to him.
"It did well now to get as close as they did to him, but I think his heart just eventually gave out."
A wolfdog is a mix of a wolf and a domestic dog.
Rumley's Open Farm where he had got loose from had reassured the public in the past couple of days that Axel was no danger and would likely be afraid of humans.
