Gardaí will be looking at increasing patrols in West Dublin after a man was shot yesterday evening.
The 24 year old victim remains in a critical condition at Beaumount Hospital this afternoon.
He was shot a number of times in the upper body.
It happened as he sat in traffic on Blakestown Road in Mulhuddart at 5pm yesterday evening.
The gunman got out of a nearby car and approached the victim's van before shooting him in the neck and upper body.
He fled the scene on foot to Hunstown Lawn.
He's being described as being 6 foot tall.
Gardai say he was wearing a parka jacket which extended down to his knees, a baseball cap and had a blue glove on at the time of the attack
The car he was travelling in - a silver BMW- was found burnt out nearby.
