WhatsApp has been fined €225 million by the Data Protection Commission.
The fine has been handed down to WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. following a GDPR investigation.
It looked at whether the messaging app met its GDPR transparency obligations.
This looked at the provision of information and the transparency of that information to both users and non-users.
It's the largest ever fine issued by the DPC.
The Commission as also ordered WhatsApp to bring its processing into compliance.
