"Before this started everything was fine. I couldn't complain. But since this started you can't make any plans."
"The only plan you can make is that you have to be ready to get out of here at all times."
Eugene O'Sullivan, from Bantry in west Cork is living, is near Poltava city in east Ukraine.
He says since the Russian invasion started 4 weeks ago, his life has been turned upside down.
"First when the war started we were frightened because we expected to be over-ran within 2 days."
Though he's grateful Ukraine has shown a strong resistance to Russian forces, he expects to evacuate at some point.
"Everybody here is on edge at all times because you just don't know when bombs are going to stop to drop from the air."
Mr O'Sullivan lives with his wife and 11 year-old-son in an apartment block.
"We've a basement downstairs so when the air raid sirens go off we have to go down there."
Just 10 minutes before the time of the interview, alarms rang nearby Eugene's home.
A further 8 thousand people have been evacuated from cities in Ukraine overnight.
So far its estimated 10 million have fled the country.
