Water supplies have been restored in parts of West Dublin following a major outage overnight.
Irish Water says a suspected lightning strike at a pumping station was to blame.
Early this morning, Fingal county council discovered a major fault at a pumping station supplying drinking water to a water tower in Ballycoolin in west Dublin.
Water supplies to parts of Blanchardstown, Mulhuddart, and rural parts of Fingal north of Dublin 15 were affected.
Just before lunchtime, they managed to get the pumps back in action.
But Fingal county council says it may take several hours to get water pipes in the area back up to full pressure, especially on high ground.
