Voting in Tipperary will be postponed by at least a week after an election candidate passed away suddenly.
Marese Skehan, who was running as an Independent, is understood to have been found dead at her home in Thurles today.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Voters will not go to the polls on Saturday as planned as nominations will have to be reopened.
A public meeting of candidates at a local hotel tonight has also been cancelled.
Tipperary TD expressed his condolences to Ms Skehan's family this evening.
He said: "The news of Marese’s death has been a huge shock to the people of Tipperary this evening."
