At least four blast bombs and several petrol bombs have been thrown at PSNI lines during fresh disturbances in Belfast this evening.
Police deployed water cannon and fired a plastic baton round during the rioting on the Newtonards Road in East Belfast.
Earlier, a pipe bomb was thrown at police in North Belfast.
The device was reportedly packed with nails and detonated after hitting an armoured vehicle.
It's understood it came from a nationalist area during a loyalist protest against a decision to ban the Orange Order from marching through the Ardoyne area on the 12th of July.
Police are calling for anyone with influence in the community to exert it to ensure an end to the violence.
Following this evening's renewed rioting, PSNI Superintendent Emma Bond said it was extremely fortunate that police officers were able to walk away from the situation unharmed.
