A protest outside the Tanaiste’s home in Dublin has been described as ‘vile on so many levels’.
Government TDs and members of the opposition have condemned the demonstration, which took place outside Leo Varadkar's home in Dublin 8 yesterday.
The homophobic, bigoted intimidation witnessed at the home of Leo Varadkar today is outrageous and shameful. The perpetrators must be held to account.

Gardaí were called to the protest at around 1pm.
In a widely circulated video on social media, homophobic language can be heard at the event.
Sickening, repulsive, disgusting behaviour outside the home of @LeoVaradkar and Matt. It has no place in a democracy, must be condemned by all & called out for what it is. Efforts to dehumanise politicians contributes to this. Vile on so many levels

Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond says it wasn’t a protest but ‘a vile act of intimidation’.
The Dublin Rathdown TD says society needs to reflect "on how we talk to each other and the way we condemn out politicians".
He said yesterday's scenes are "truly worrying".
"We need to remember our words have consequences."
