Verona Murphy has been de-selected as a Fine Gael candidate in the next General Election.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe informed Murphy of the decision at a local branch meeting yesterday.
Her deselection comes after she made controversial comments about asylum seekers in the lead up to last month's byelections.
Murphy said they may need to be de-programmed before coming to Ireland as they may have been infiltrated by ISIS.
The Irish Road Hauliers Association boss later apologised for the comments.
Fine Gael's executive council meet tonight to confirm the de-selection.
It's unclear whether Verona Murphy will contest the general election as an independent.
