Unrestricted abortions up to 12 weeks of pregnancy will be available in Northern Ireland from today, as new laws take effect.
Last October, the service was decriminalised in the north, meaning anyone who accessed it, including abortion pills, would not be prosecuted.
Under the new rules, abortions up to 24 weeks will also be allowed if the risk to the woman's physical or mental health's greater than that of termination.
There'll also be no limit in cases of severe foetal impairment or fatal foetal abnormality, or if there's a risk of death or grave permanent injury to the pregnant woman.
