The new public service pay deal has been ratified by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.
13 out of 17 unions in the sector backed the deal which comes into force immediately.
The deal will run to December 2022.
It means workers will get a 1 per cent pay increase or 500 euro per year - whichever is greater.
The Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath is welcoming the decision to endorse the Building Momentum agreement.
Minister McGrath says ""It is clear that the public service has delivered for the people of Ireland in the most difficult of circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Agreement acknowledges this contribution by providing affordable pay adjustments commencing later this year. Crucially, these pay adjustments are progressive with those on lower incomes receiving proportionally greater pay increases."
