Ukraine And Russia Sign Deal On Grain Exports

A deal has been reached between Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN to resume Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea.

The agreement will allow food to pass from three key ports - potentially easing global price rises.

Moscow has previously blamed Western sanctions for slowing down its food and fertiliser exports.

A blockade has been in place since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, cutting off supplies.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres says the agreement will benefit the world's poorest countries on the edge of famine.

An estimated five million tonnes of grain could start to leave ports in the Black Sea following the agreement.

Until Russia’s invasion, Ukraine was one of the largest exporters of grains and vegetable oils, exporting grain to meet the needs of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
