Police in the UK have made an arrest in connection with the murder of pensioner Rose Hanrahan in Limerick two years ago.
The 78-year-old was found dead at her home in Thomondgate in December 2017.
It is understood she had been violently assaulted.
Gardaí have now confirmed that an individual has been arrested in the UK on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.
A spokesperson said: “Gardaí are aware that an individual has been arrested on a European Arrest Warrant. No further information at this time.”
This is the first arrest in the investigation into the pensioner's death.
