University Hospital Limerick has announced it is canceling all elective surgeries and outpatient appointments on next Monday and Tuesday.
The decision has been made given the coronavirus outbreak, with a UHL spokesperson saying the measures are necessary in the interests of patient safety.
The ban affects University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, Ennis Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, St John’s Hospital and Croom Orthopaedic Hospital.
A limited number of exemptions apply and any patient whose appointment or procedure is going ahead will be contacted directly by UHL staff.
All affected patients will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity.
