The fire which broke out the house in Ceanann View Co. Donegal at around 11 o clock this morning, claimed the lives of 2 sisters, aged 24 and 28.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised, and found the women in a bedroom.
One young woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital in a critical condition, but has since died.
A man who was also in the house in Ceanann View managed to escape and raised the alarm.
Former minister Dr James McDaid, who is the local GP, said he was shocked by what he described as an horrific incident.
Gardai have sealed off the house for a technical examination, although the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
