The Pandemic Unemployment Payment officially winds down today.
Last week, over 44 thousand people received their final PUP installment and those who are eligible will now be transferred over to Jobseeker's Allowance.
The scheme, which was originally set up as a short-term emergency measure, has been in place for two years at a cost of €9billion euro.
It was a universal payment, and supported tens of thousands of people who could no longer work as a result of the pandemic.
At one point a flat rate of €350 per week was provided, before the sum was restructured and reduced over time.
In January the scheme was closed to new applicants.
