The decision was made following a meeting by INMO executive council members today
Two additional strike dates have been announced by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The decision by the unions executive council will see members down tools on the 19th and 21st of February.
This is in addition to five strike dates already planned for Tuesday and Thursday next week as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the following week.
The first 24 hour stoppages took place last week, in the row over pay and staff shortages.
An increase in the number of services on strike from 82 to 240 was also announced for the coming weeks action.
In a statement, the INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha said "our message is clear. We will not be going away - resolving this dispute requires direct engagement from the government, recognising the real recruitment and retention problems in Irish nursing and midwifery.
"As ever, we remain available for talks with the government for any realistic proposals."
A national rally will also be held by the INMO on Saturday 9th of February.
