Two and a half times as many drugs were seized last year as in 2020.
Revenue says €115 million worth were recovered - compared to €45 million the previous year.
There was a seven-fold increase in cocaine and heroin seizures - with €72 million worth recovered in 2021.
Retired detective inspector, Pat Marry, says it's time to consider decriminalising the possession of cannabis and cocaine.
He says it's time had a "radical look" at the way we legislate against drug possession.
"Let's look at the likes of Portugal, where its been decriminlaised."
