Tusla has invited Scouting Ireland to a meeting to discuss concerns it has over current practices and procedures at the organisation.
The Child and Family Agency had called for the scouting body to consider the viability of continuing with overnight trips.
However Scouting Ireland insists robust safeguards are in place.
Earlier today, TD's raised the issue in the Dail.
Tanaiste Simon Coveney suggested parents should make sure trips this weekend are well supervised.

Tusla has set up a helpline for anyone who has a child protection or welfare concern.
It operates Monday to Friday between 10 am and 4 pm.
The helpline number is 1800 805 665.
