The introduction of new fire safety rules for creches is being postponed by Tusla.
They're being deferred due to fears they could force smaller facilities to close.
Earlier this week, Tusla wrote to all childcare facilities saying they would have to submit mandatory documentation by December 12th.
The documentation is required to allow operators to remain open next year.
However, the requirements for fire safety checks will now be delayed until June.
Creche operators say they are awaiting training in the new system, and fear it would lead to services closing down.
