The Transport Minister says he's confident the government can begin to ease restrictions in February.
It comes as rules around self-isolation for asymptomatic close contacts are to be scrapped at a Cabinet meeting this morning - providing those affected have been boosted.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says he hopes this will bring clarity to what is a 'complicated system'.
However he adds there won't be any other restrictions being discussed at this morning's meeting of senior ministers.
The Green Party leader said that with "all things going well" restrictions should be eased next month.
