Workers at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast have promised to continue industrial action after administrators entered the plant today.

The workers also say they will control who enters the site.

The company is expected to file for insolvency tomorrow at Belfast High Court.

A delegation of workers also met with DUP leader Arlene Foster and East Belfast MP Gavin Robinson at Stormont - who said they were disappointed - no resolution has been found.

Workers' representative Joe Passmore says they are united in their stance to protect ship-building in the city.

Unions representing workers have called for the shipyard to be nationalised, arguing that it would be cheaper for the government to keep the shipyard open.

However, the UK government has said the crisis is "ultimately a commercial issue".

Harland and Wolff's best known vessel is the Titanic, which was built at the yard between 1909 and 1911.

At its height, Harland and Wolff employed more than 30,000 people.
