This year's Tidy Towns competition will be held virtually.
It comes after the 2020 competition was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
That was the first time the Tidy Towns was cancelled in over 60 years.
Judging will be carried out remotely for this year's event.
That means that towns and villages will be assessed via photos of their communities which will be submitted online.
A new award category has been introduced aimed at groups that have continued to keep their communities tidy during the pandemic.
Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys says "TidyTowns is not just a competition. It demonstrates everything good about our people – volunteerism, positivity, working together, community spirit, protecting our environment, that sense of pride in looking after the place you call home."
