Three people have died in a crash in Co Louth.
It happened at Carrickcarnan on the N1 at around 2.15 am on Saturday morning.
It was a two-vehicle collision.
The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en-route to the scene and will conduct investigations.
This is the second fatal crash in less than 12 hours.
Two other people died following a crash in Co Cavan on Friday night.
The collision involved a car and a jeep at around 7.00 pm on the N55 in Ballinagh.
Gardaí said the driver of the car and a passenger - a man aged in his late 60s and a woman also in her 60s - were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the jeep was taken to Cavan General Hospital as a precaution.
